2006 Dividends to the Community
- 2,563 people were provided rehabilitation services in job search
workshops, job readiness programs, job retention counseling and
sheltered employment.
- 344 people began new jobs with Goodwill Industries.
- 468 people were placed in community employment outside of Goodwill. The average pay rate was $7.41 per hour.
476 people were on payroll at year end – 51% were people with
disabilities and 9% were people with disadvantaging conditions.
- $1,647,155 in payroll taxes and benefi ts were generated by
Goodwill employees who were paid wages of $5,996,420.
- 961 people received community assistance, information and
referrals.
- 1,538 children and their families shared the warmth of Coats for
Kids.
- $8,952 in Good Samaritan vouchers were issued to churches and
social service organizations for people in need to purchase clothing,
furniture and other items in our Goodwill Stores.
- 7,610 volunteer hours were contributed by the Women’s Auxiliary
to Goodwill Industries.
- 698,780 retail purchases were recorded in Goodwill’s 14 stores
by value-conscious shoppers.
- $705,902 in sales taxes were collected and paid on goods sold
in our stores. An additional $59,925 in sales taxes were paid on
goods and services that we purchased.
- 172,179 donor visits were made by environmentally aware Louisiana
residents who recycled through Goodwill’s Donated Goods program.
- $3,671,793 was spent on purchases of goods and services in our
communities by Goodwill Industries.
