Community-Based Contracts Program

Goodwill Industry’s Community-Based Contract Program offers an opportunity for people with disabilities to learn vocational and team-building skills while actively participating in a work environment. The employees learn as they work.

The employees benefit by:

  • Obtaining various work and personal skills, job specific training and a stable job.
  • Enhancing their self-esteem and quality of life.
  • Becoming more independent.
  • Enjoying fuller participation in the community.
  • Receiving fair wages and fringe benefits.
The Government and commercial businesses benefit by:
  • Receiving high quality products and services.
  • Receiving on-time delivery of contract specifications.
  • Receiving substantial savings on contract re-bidding paperwork.

There are three types of community-based contracts:
Federal Government contracts provide a wide variety of services for Federal facilities. Current contracts include providing janitorial services for the Shreveport Federal Courthouse and the Monroe Federal Courthouse and Post Office; shelf-stocking, janitorial and warehousing services at the Barksdale AFB Commissary, and telephone operators for the Veterans Administration Hospital

State government contracts developed in partnership with the Employment Development Service (EDS) provide janitorial and groundskeeping work for state facilities, such as Job Services of Shreveport and Bossier City.

Commercial Contracts also provide a wide variety of services in commercial applications. Currently, we provide services to Foremost Dairies.
